Blood is Thicker than Water

Lancelot adjusted his scarf as he landed on Vozuno's shores, the sun having just set with the orange purple hues reflecting off of the ocean's surface. The waves would normally calm any Luminite, but Lancelot found himself unnerved by them- For they could easily drag him to his doom, something he wished to avoid.
One thing was on the silver Luminite's mind as he walked onto the docks, floating over the ocean carefully- A bounty was held for a Luminite last spotted amongst this archipelago. Pink fur, black jacket, blue stardust, Frigate was his name. Apparently the Luminite and his crew had been causing chaos for the people of this planet, even resulting in a couple of deaths; So a bounty was put down to defeat the cruel captain, and Lancelot felt confident enough to take on the challenge.

Plus, constantly fighting King Checkmate wasn't too beneficial to his job. It was fun to fight against someone he couldn't defeat (yet, it'd come eventually- He was confident in that much), sure, but it wouldn't get him much coin, as much as he hated to admit it. He needed to make an income to properly survive- So taking down criminals had been his main source. Checkmate had yet to go down, so that bounty would wait. 'It's not like he can't survive a day or two without me,' He thought with a snort as the waves brushed against his paws, causing him to float a bit higher upwards. The sun had completely disappeared from this side of the planet, leading to a dark, inky night overhead. Nothing could be heard except for the crashing of waves, and Lancelot's brow furrowed- Finding this supposed captain would be no easy task, considering how large the ocean was.

As he glanced up at the rising moons, he floated a bit higher upwards and hummed to himself, twirling in the sky as he imagined himself in a dance. A tango with a lover by moonlight, perhaps- He would like to do that someday, truthfully. His heart was always too big for his body, he had been told, and to share that love to someone who returned the favor was something he dreamt of. He smiled, before immediately going back into focus mode- He continued his tour above the oceans, eyes scanned for any sort of sight of this pirate luminite.
It was around sunrise when he finally heard a noise outside of singing- An off-tune harmony of Luminites, all bellowing together as they sailed the open seas. He flew forwards, scanning the situation; Had to face this carefully, or else he'd be turned into fish food. He quickly rechecked the bounty- The entire crew was wanted, yes, but taking down the captain was the highest priority- So he adjusted himself, waiting for a good moment.

The crew was mostly settled at the moment, Frigate at the helm. His first mate had control over the sails, while the rest had opted to sleep through this morning- His ear flicked once, and he barely had time to move his head before a large, silver body slammed into him. With a snarl, he quickly shoved the large Luminite away, who quickly got up with a focused glare of determination- His fluffy pelt spiked, and without hesitation he struck again- Frigate expecting it this time, countering with his own paws. With an angry shriek, the crew immediately rushed out into the open area of the ship, not yet attacking but eyes focused on the bounty hunter. Lancelot kept a focused eye on Frigate, who suddenly.. Grinned.

"Aye, took us long enough to find some poor sap to duel!" The captain called out, and Lancelot's claws unsheathed. "What's yer name, boy? Or shall we just call you 'sharkbait'?" He said with a sneer, which Lancelot responded with a snarl. "Lancelot." His claws dug into the wood as Frigate sneered again. "Sharkbait sounds better, don't it?" He taunted with murmurs from the crew surrounding the two, Frigate's eyes gaining an ominous shine to them. "Fits ya more." That threat nearly sent Lancelot into a lunge, but he needed to be patient and focus here- And as Frigate took a step forwards, he took a defensive pose. "Well, we've been itching for a fight for ages, so nothin' personal, Lance- Just might wanna look at the sky one last time before ya never see it again!" Frigate cackled, before lunging.

Lancelot quickly turned to slash at Frigate's side, but the Luminite's claws hooked into his shoulder, digging his claws into the dense fur, ripping past it, then yanking his claws down as soon as they got deep enough- Causing Lancelot to yelp, slamming Frigate onto the floor. The wooden boards creaked with the force Frigate was slammed down, yet the sharklike Luminite responded by digging his back claws into Lancelot's underbelly, ripping and tearing ferociously, like Lancelot was a piece of prey. Lancelot responded by slamming his paw into his head, stunning him before grabbing him by the scruff and tossing him to the side, blood dripping from both pelts. Frigate gasped to regain his breath, but kept that sadistic grin- Before rushing back and digging his teeth into Lancelot, ripping out flesh and chunks of fur.
The battle continued on for what felt like eternity, Lancelot being swift but Frigate being small and hard to hit, until eventually they both were worse for wear- Lancelot, even more so. He jumped back to avoid another blow, only to nearly sidestep off the boat- And his expression gave away his emotion, as Frigate caught on quickly.

"Ah, got a bit of a fear of water there?" He snorted, and the crew chuckled- Lancelot growled, taking a step forward- Before suddenly Frigate slammed into him with full force, knocking him off the boat. "Maybe ya should just learn how to swim then!" He laughed as Lancelot yelped in fear- He would've floated up, but Frigate took him by surprise- and as he splashed into the water, he immediately started to sink. Frigate kicked him down, abandoning him in the blue abyss as he swam back up to the surface while Lancelot was left desperately struggling to find something to bring himself back up. This couldn't be it, right? Right!? He felt the air struggle to stay in his lungs, the saltwater burnt his eyes and wounds, he flailed around as he descended deeper and deeper. The air in his lungs felt like it escaped him, and things were starting to go dark- As he descended, for some ungodly reason the only thought on his mind was the checkerboard-patterned king, Checkmate... Weird.

Next thing he knew, he was on the shores, a clearly messy attempt at dragging him on shore from *someone-* He didn't know who. A small box and a note rested in front of him- 'I saw you flailing in the water! I made sure the water in your lungs was gone, here's a first aid for your troubles- I'm sorry I couldn't stick around, Sincerely, Mx. SVOI.'
He blinked dizzily as he stared down at the letter, then at the first aid- And sighed, placing his paws on his eyes. He immediately cringed- Frigate hit his left face pretty good.. And then grumbled. "Mayhaps I should stick to the petty thieves for a bit." He sighed as he opened up the box, picking up some bandages and disinfectant.
