owllet taming !
The farm wasn’t going to tend to itself. That was what he kept telling himself as he worked, paws tirelessly digging into the soil. It wasn’t hard work, but it was tedious. Scrape through the dirt with his claws, use the trowel to make a neat hole, then bury the seeds, cover them with dirt, and sprinkle some water over them. Over, and over, and over. He was beginning to grow bored, mind wandering through visceral thoughts he’d rather not entertain.
Until, one of the bushes at the edge of his garden seemed to tremble. The movement caught his eye, and Slash’s head shot up so he could stare at the source of it. After a few tense seconds, it shook again. He squinted, staring between the leaves- taking a few cautious steps closer. Feathers? Maybe a Fruiting Chicken got loose from someone’s farm.
Slash stuck his paw into the leaves, determined to free the chicken from the bush- but it was bigger than he thought. The wrong color, too.
After a moment of debate, staring into round, black eyes- it clicked. An Owllet- right at the end of the season like this? He’d heard of them, of course, but hadn’t gotten the shot to meet one himself yet. It seemed… timid. Shaking slightly as he lowered his head, taking a hesitant step backwards to draw it out of the greenery.
“C’mere, buddy. I won’t hurt you, see? I’m friendly, I promise.” Even if I don’t look like it, sorry.
The creature seemed curious enough, slowly crawling out of the bush with its belly pressed against the floor. Slash gently pressed his chin against the top of its head, humming gently in an attempt to soothe the Owllet. He didn’t want to frighten the poor thing, not with how docile and sweet he’d heard these things were.
Instead, he stood up and held out a paw, making sure to tuck his claws together politely.
“Would you like to stay with me?” He asked, gesturing with his outstretched arm towards his little patch of land. “You’ll have to help out around the farm, but I think we could both use someone to watch out for us, don’t you?”
