Dawn of a new warrior
As dawn approached, two luminites stood at opposite ends of the training grounds. One was a multicoloured calico dressed in jade armour, and the other was seemingly devoid of colour save for her stardust. “Hey, good morning! I’ve been expecting you!” the first one, Jiahao, called out. As he stepped forward, the light shone across his ornate armour, as well as his wide grin. In response, his ‘pupil’, Dusk said… nothing. She simply nodded, and adjusted her stance to suit Jiahao's.
Huh, tough crowd…?
“Anyway~ Let’s begin!”
Jiahao dashed forward with a powerful swing of his sword, in order to test the other’s strength. Dusk handily blocked it, the two clashing before she pushed Jiahao back.
“Going on the defensive, huh?” the warrior instructor called.
“Yes.”
“I thought you wanted to spar? Can’t really fight if you’re just blocking all the time!”
...Receiving no answer, Jiahao shrugged. “Ah well, you do you!”
Again, Jiahao swung his sword. And again, Dusk blocked. Now Jiahao tilted his head. What an odd tactic! Maybe it’s time to shake things up a little. Taking a few steps back, he charged at Dusk, hoping to knock her off-balance. This time, Dusk met him halfway, slamming into his side. However, Jiahao was seasoned enough to hold his own against such an impact. Still stung a little, though.
“Haha, that’s more like it!” he chuckled, tail swishing in anticipation. “Hey, c'mon, tell me! What're you fighting for?”
She decided to humour him: “To protect someone precious to me.”
Jiahao gave a low whistle. “Woah-ho! Didn't expect to get that many words outta you. Or such spicy info!”
“...” Dusk stared at him. Was it really that shocking?
“Soooo…” Jiahao circled Dusk, who carefully watched and mirrored his movements. “Lay it on me! What're they like?”
How to describe them…?
But of course, she already knew the answer.
“Warm and kind.”
“Oh?! And?” Jiahao swung cheerfully at her, and once again, she blocked and shoved him back.
“Charming, and bright.”
“Great, great! What else?”
“Just like the sun.”
Jiahao guffawed, now pawing at the ground like a giddy schoolboy. “Awww, c'mon, you're gonna make me blush!”
WHOOSH!
Jiahao ducked, locking eyes with his opponent whose cold gaze seemed ready to knock him dead.
“Ahahaha! Hey! I was just kiddin’, you know? This is all in good fun~” Jiahao smiled innocently.
“Hah,” Dusk ‘laughed’, but she didn’t sound amused in the slightest. It was just a training session.
She wouldn’t seriously be out for blood… Right?
“Well anyway, I toootally get it.” Jiahao decided to take that gamble. “That’s not a bad choice at all~ Personally, though? I prefer someone mysterious, gloomy, and kiiiinda like the moon--”
This time, Dusk aimed for Jiahao’s legs. The instructor reared back, realised his mistake, and corrected his stance. It was just as well; Dusk hurtled past him, having just missed tackling her opponent.
“Heh!” Jiahao turned his head. “What, can't a guy talk about himself?”
“You talk too much,” Dusk replied coldly, sweeping her body back around, ready for another charge.
“Fair enough! Why don't we skip the pleasantries, then, eh?”
“Fine by me.” The two luminites stared each other down, sizing the other up in preparation for their next move.
“Then let's have a nice, long chat!”
On Jiahao’s signal, the two warriors readied their stances, and rushed forward for another round.
