You are not Alone.
You are not Alone.
Supernovae are some of the universe's most cosmic wonders. Encapsulating the end of a star, thousands of bits and pieces sputter out, flowing into a colorful galactic mirage of wonder and terror. A process that signifies both the end, and new beginnings for an entire celestial body. The creation of luminites via Supernova can be some of the most extravagant events in the entire galaxy…
But Eon’s creation wasn’t much like that.
The world was cold, an endless vacuum of pitch black surrounded the small luminite, almost suffocating him in its grasp. Not even a spark of light shone down, with only the hint of a glow from his blue monitor to illuminate the world around him. He was small, at that time, only just formed; he had barely gained enough consciousness to understand who or where he was. As his eyes flickered open, he tried to glance around the abyss. Trying to navigate his surroundings, he noticed something was keeping him from moving. As his head peeked around the surroundings, he noticed he was bound inside…something. He could see vaguely through the opening top, with small spots of distant starlight mocking him, telling him of a world he couldn’t be. A loud droning noise came from below as the light slowly closed in upon him…
He was trapped.
Barely a minute into existing and he was trapped, but where? Where was he? What was his place? Hell, who was he? So many questions and not enough answers. He needed to get out, he wanted to get out, he knew there was something out there, there had to be, but his small stature made it hard for him to resist the pull of whatever was tearing him away. The only thing he could do now was sit and wait, hoping that something would come to rescue him.
Hours passed by like seconds. Then turned into days, then months, then years. No matter how strong the cosmic force pulling him in was, he still found a way to resist. The odds were all stacked against his favor as he essentially eternally hibernated waiting for some sort of change in his desolate surroundings…but there was a deep, resounding force, stronger than anything the universe had to throw at him, his hope.
On one especially cold night, among the mind-numbing darkness, he heard it.
“Run.”
A faint voice echoed through the abyss. He spoke with the voice he had yet to use, “What?”
“You have to run.” The voice echoed again.
Eon’s ears pricked up. Run…but where? Where could he even run? He didn’t know what to do…
“You don’t have much time.” The voice echoed a second time. “Go.”
“I don’t understand-!”
“GO!”
Suddenly, a flash of light beamed through, almost blinding Eon in the process. Thousands of colors painted the area as he felt something skyrocket him out of wherever he had been kept for all that time and straight out into the universe above. He started to scream as he was pummeled all across the place. He tried to cover his eyes, all the new sensations almost driving him crazy. He could not only see, but he could smell, hear, and touch the new expansive world around him.
Still propelling at a high velocity, he peeked out from his paws to see he had essentially created a ball of light around himself. He had essentially become his own weird version of a comet, flying across space like no tomorrow. Part of him thought this was the coolest thing ever, the other part was insanely freaked out. His fear nor awe at the situation didn't matter though, as when he glanced to see where he was headed…the location was not the most ideal. He was directed straight towards a planet, and he had absolutely no way to slow himself down.
Now was the REAL panic as Eon tried to figure out how to navigate himself, barely fighting against the pull of energy as he approached ever closer. Unable to do anything else, he curled up into a ball and braced for impact. The surrounding sound became high in pitch as he fell and fell further downwards…only moments away from hitting the ground. The only thought that could cross his mind was how he was going to die before his life would even start…
But he didn’t.
Crashing into the ground, a loud explosion flowing out sparks of blue and yellow energy erupted out of the ground and unveiled the small luminite, now coughing and sputtering, barely able to catch his breath. As he stumbled upwards, he was shocked to see he was still conscious. No, no that impact should’ve obliterated him! And yet there he was, still standing…somewhere. Actually, where was he? Eon looked up to take in his surroundings. He was in…a forest maybe? The large, towering patches of greenery above indicated so, at the very least. But before he could really assess anymore about the new world around him, he heard a voice call out.
“It was over here!”
He jumped at the noise and rushed to hide. Who was that? Were they out to get him? He didn’t want to stick around to find out. Not knowing where else to hide, he snuck behind a tree and silently repeated over and over to himself for them to please just leave him alone. He had enough cosmic horror for a lifetime, he didn’t need the new trauma of being locked up somewhere never to see the light of day once again. Unfortunately, his hopes couldn’t help rescue him this time, as a small luminite poked their head out to greet the small creature.
“I think I found- AH!” The luminite jumped back. Eon froze up in fear, trying to think of how to defend himself. The new person didn’t seem threatening, in fact they were much smaller than Eon, with brown fluffy hair decorated with colored roses and with a chingling bell that rang with each step the small lumi took. The most defining feature of the lumi however, was the white mask that covered their entire face, plastered with a smile.
“Bea-! Is everything okay?” Another luminite came running out, this time with straighter, but similarly long hair and the same sort of mask on. They approached what Eon had assumed their friend....perhaps even sibling, with concern and then leapt back the moment they locked their eyes on Eon. “Holy sh-”
“What’s going on over there?” Another voice rang out, more lumi’s approached out from the bushes, surrounding Eon. His eyes dropped down, terrified and readying his position to run away as he was cornered by this new gang of people. He heard them murmur to one another, each shocked at what they were seeing, was there something wrong with him? They were just like him weren’t they? As Eon took a step backwards, he fumbled into a puddle and looked down at the wet surface. He took in his reflection, realizing the face he had was unlike anything the others had to offer. Even the masked figures couldn’t come to par with how he appeared. That’s why they were so shocked at seeing him…
The second masked luminite began to approach Eon steadily as he tried to fumble onto his feet, tired from the sheer force that brought him here to begin with. Slipping under the puddle, the luminite reached out a paw. Eon winced, expecting the worst, this was it, this was the end for him. This was the REAL way he was going to die…
But instead of receiving a knock, or even a slap in the face, a gentle pat on the head greeted him instead. “You alright kid?” The figure asked. “The name’s Masky, we saw your uh- arrival…” The luminite looked to the sky and squinted their eyes. Then, they looked back towards Eon. “I’m guessing you’re pretty confused, huh?”
Eon nodded.
“Heh, makes sense. I would be pretty weirded out too- it isn’t everyday that uhm…sorta just happens-” Masky’s attempts at humor were less than successful at helping Eon’s worries to say the least. “Say, do you need a place to stay?”
Eon nodded again.
“Well, today must be your lucky day then.” She smiled. “How’d you like to be a member of Masky Corp?”
A place to stay…
“Okay…” Eon murmured out hesitantly, still unfamiliar with the use of his voice.
“Well, then it’s official.” The luminite stepped back into the group. “Welcome to the team, kid.”
Eon looked at all the new faces looking at him with excitement and joy, and smiled back. Before he thought all he was ever going to know was the same void for the rest of his life, but he found someone, he found people, and better yet, they understood him. They wanted him to stay…
Maybe he wouldn’t be so alone after all.
You are not Alone.
