Finding A New Life

Paws gently pressed against the soft ground below as the group walked down the eroded pathways, dirt and other materials dirtying their fur

“Sooo… Where are we again?”

“Well according to what info I have on me already, it’s a small planet named Pasos from Terra 12”

“Good planet? Bad planet?”

Crimson laughed at Auburn’s curiosity, seeing his raised eyebrow under the mess of hair stuffed in the hat. He shook his head and gave a small smile

“It’s decent. Not the greatest but it's habitable at least. We should find some life soon enough if we’re lucky”

The older Luminite nodded in response. He glanced back at the two other Luminites just to make sure they didn’t lose them (and that Blank hadn’t tormented Silver yet) to spot the two looking at a brightly coloured plant. Auburn huffed a small laugh before turning around and wandering over, catching the eye of Crimson who glanced back and titled his head to the side

“Whoooaaa… It’s so pretty!”

“Hehe yeah it is!! I wonder what it does~”

“What do you mean?”

The Luminite glanced over at the floating one with a curious gaze. Blank only grinned widely and pawed at the plant’s bright blue leaves

“Weeellll everything has some kinda purpose right? If it didn’t, then why is it even here?!”

Silver glanced at the plant then back at Blank, his ears drooping with an awkward laugh

“Heh… I… Guess you got a point there”

“What are you two doing?”

The two yelped at Auburn’s sudden appearance, the Luminite quietly laughing then looking between the two. Silver laughed with while Blank puffed it’s cheeks out

“Not funny old man”

“Hehe, it kinda was Blank. You gotta admit”

“I admit nothing”

Blank scoffed. By now Crimson wandered over seeing the group standing by the plant and glanced over at it

“This… Is just some common plant. Why are we looking at it?”

Silver hesitated at the blunt tone he had but shrugged. Blank looked unphased

“Eeehhh, Silver liked the plant. Said it looked cool”

“HEY-”

“What? It’s true!”

Blank put their paws up and narrowed their eyes, silver feeling uncomfortable at the attention now being on him. Crimson sighed at this and turned back around, gesturing for the group to follow

“Come on. We should be able to find somewhere to rest soon”

They looked between each other and followed along, not really complaining since Crimson seemed like the only one who knew what he was doing. They looked around the planet a long while after, chatting with locals and generally getting to know the place before finding somewhere to rest for the night

Auburn wandered over to the opening of the makeshift base the ground found and laid down, close to Crimson who had his head laid against a rock. His eyes were half closed from tiredness- They’ve been walking for what felt like days so the rest was definitely warranted.

“Evening Crimson, you look as tired as ever”

“Hah, charming”

The Luminite scoffed while the other just chuckled. The other two were asleep further in so they had to be quiet, a silent agreement to do so between the two

“I never asked, but what planet did you come from again?”

Auburn glanced over to spot Crimson looking over, a raised eyebrow and his head tilted to the side showing his interest in the subject. He only squirmed as it was never an easy question to answer- His memory of the place was awful and it always hurt to try to remember. He sighed

“It… Wasn’t good”

After a moment of silence, Crimson spoke up, expecting Auburn to have continued

“That’s it?”

“It’s hard to explain. My… My memory is not the best. Everything feels all blurry”

And instinctively wrong, but he didn’t want to mention it. Crimson thankfully relaxed and turned back to lay his head again, either from pity or ignorance

“Understandable, although I’ve never heard of a Luminite with bad memory before. I remember everything fine”

“You’re part robot”

“My world was ahead of many others”

To that Auburn rolled his eyes and huffed a laugh. He always thought of Crimson as a little stuck up, but maybe that’s how his world was. It’d explain a lot to him personally and y’know what? He’s not going to complain about it. It’s oddly charming…

Actually, the shine of the planet’s multiple moons casted a soft glow at the base’s entrance, illuminating both Luminites in a gentle white haze. Their hats did block their eyes however which Auburn realised, reaching up to take off his beloved cap while Crimson looked over again, now squinting

“What… Are you doing now?”

“It’s nicer like this. Here, you do it too”

“I am not taking off my hat”

“It won’t kill you y’know”

Now it was Crimson’s turn to roll his eyes with a groan, making Auburn snort but soon the cybernetic Lumi did take it off, revealing a mess of black hair underneath it. Auburn smiled softly at that

“There, you happy- Why are you smiling at it!?-”

He threw his hat over at the other while he laughed, finding the reaction amusing. Out of all things he took a weird offence to that… Or was it an embarrassment? On a second look Auburn was sure there was a blush on his cheeks

“You are so strange…”

The two talked a little while longer before Crimson gave up on Auburn’s antics and tried falling asleep. Auburn stayed awake, thinking there had to be someone looking after everyone but he soon fell asleep himself. Shame, he didn’t notice Crimson absentmindedly rolling over closer to him
