What Haunted House?!
It was no joke that Ptolemy absolutely hated haunted houses and he never wanted to step foot in another one of these things. Despite knowing it was all actors and creepy props, he didn’t find them fun in the slightest. That was when Oubliette had challenged him to go into the one around the corner. Usually, he wouldn’t do this kind of thing, but he wanted to look even the smallest bit cool to the other luminite who had just gotten to this part of the galaxy for Halloween shenanigans.
Ptolemy thought about it logically for a little while. He knew this wouldn’t be the end of his life and there would be no harm in turning around to find something else to do, but he wanted to stand up to the scary things inside for the last time.
“Hmmm… I... I really don’t want to, but if I keep letting it have this hold over me… I’m going to look lame… Maybe I should do a tarot reading for myself before heading inside… That way I can at least know some kind of outcome…” He pulled out his tarot deck and did a small reading which gave him a cautionary sign of his near future. “Well… That certainly brings one’s spirit up… Eheheh…”
Shaking his head and fixing his glasses, he made his way up to the door and let them know he would be going in for the “fright night” horror house. The name alone made his stomach shake but he was here now and there was no backing down.
Upon entry, it seemed like a normal house, just a bit dustier in the corners and fake blood splattered all over the place for effect. It looked like it was going to be a zombie invasion type of theme by the looks of things.
Ptolemy took a deep breath and moved through the entire house along the path before him. He screamed in fear at every actor that popped up and ran off with them chasing behind. These zombies were sure quick for the living dead! There was a bunch in the rug he nearly tripped over as he was dashing away, but he caught himself before he met the floor.
Nearing the last room, his heartbeat was through the roof! There was no way this wasn’t going to end poorly for him or the final actor. He was so far into flight mode he might just lose gravity and fly off into the night sky.
And there he was. The final room.
There was a larger fellow dressed in an even ickier costume than that of the others before him. Ptolemy was going to try to sneak by him, but another actor popped out to announce he was there which caused him to shriek.
He started running as fast as he could, almost having his eyes closed as he barreled through door after door to get through the house and leave. He could hear the actor closing in behind him and he squeaked as he jumped out the last door and onto the grass waiting outside.
And just like that… It was over.
He had faced his fears of the haunted house but ultimately ended up a sniveling and cowering mess on the front lawn of this fine establishment.
He knows one thing for sure… He would get Oubliette and his laughing back one of these days.
