Costumes are for Fun!

This time of year was always a crowd favorite for Autra and his excited hard-working claws. Despite his appearance, he was quite handy at many things and sewing just happened to be one of his hidden talents. That’s why, with the announcement of a new costume contest, he nearly lost his head… Er… Would have lost it if not for it just floating there.

He had planned on making something dazzling and eye-catching. It was going to be something that would show off not only his talents but also his neat body workings. With his head floating about, he had to think of the ways he could use that to his advantage. This was just another thing he lived with so it wouldn’t be too big of a problem.

“Let’s see… I need a small roll of this dark-colored fabric and a smidge of the brighter one for accents. Maybe I could pick up something shimmery and some rhinestones… Perfect~ The list is done~” Autra spoke to himself in a soft and airy tone that wisps off near the end, just as he speaks with others.

He grabbed a bag and slung it under his head to step a leg through to hitch it to his shoulder. It was a specially made bag that he had fiddled with himself, making sure that he kept his body in mind as he tweaked it with a new strap.

With a slow hop, slide, and jump out his door, Autra made his way to the craft store to grab all the things needed for the costume he was building. It had to be a cool and neat-looking one, so he wanted the best for it. The store clerks looked at him a little funny after noticing his head floating, but he was used to it so he didn’t bother with the looks and just asked where things might be that he wasn’t familiar with.

After a while, he purchased all the fabrics and sew-on pieces and brought them home with him. It took a little while to sort it all out and put it together. With a few stitches missing their mark and having to redo those before settling in on that chunk of his costume finally being completed.

The costume was coming together, and he found himself to be proud of the shape that it was taking.

Autra finished the whole thing about two or three days later, making the whole project a weeklong and he completed it on his own. Finally, it was time to reveal the masterpiece that he had created.

The contest was taking place on the stage in town, and he got ready for it before making his way down to the proposed spot. He got in line and made sure everything was in line.

He made his way up on stage and then showed off his hard work when his time finally came along. That’s when everyone could see the work of his head being in a helmet of sorts with little glittery pieces dangling down to a small sculpture of a cow where his head normally rested.

His costume was one that showed an abduction of a cow for the fun of it. He didn’t mind these kinds of things and he made this a fun-loving costume for everyone to see with the rest being a suit with a cape and glittering all over it like stars in the sky. He embroidered constellations and some galaxies all over it.

This was the most fun he had had in a long while and he wouldn’t change it for the world whether he won or not.
