Starbunny

Wild

i. Description

Small in stature, Starbunnies are 11-14 in (27-33 cm) in size. They are compact in shape, naturally storing excess fat and fur on their bodies due to their tendency to stay in colder, more isolated climates.

Their coats vary in color, but will typically be primarily white or black depending on the environment they live in. They possess a large, star-shaped crystal on their forehead, and star-shaped pawpads. These features glow faintly at night to help Starbunnies find each other.

Geographical variation

Starbunnies most commonly live in the colonies of Vaseira, Tacus, Potae, and the northern parts of Abosia.

They are most commonly found in the forests of Vaseira, but may be found in a number of other locations in smaller groups.

ii. HABITAT

Starbunnies prefer temperate to cold climates. Their fur density and length vary depending on the time of year and primary location.

They are a skittish species who prefer living in isolated locations away from society, primary living in small groups amongst themselves in burrows located at the base of trees or within thick brush to conceal themselves from possible predators.

They're mainly found in flat lands with thick brush, but have also been known to nest within abandoned ruins, and even less so on mountains and crags.

iii. ecology and behavior

Starbunnies are incredibly skittish and shy creatures who dislike interacting with species outside of their own. They run away from any perceived threat, including Luminites, and thus are very difficult to domesticate.

Mating

Starbunnies are monogamous creatures that form pairs through courtship rituals. It's said that the flickering intensity of a Starbunny's head crystal is the primary form of courtship for Starbunnies. Starbunnies with larger crystals are considered more desirable among their species.

Starbunnies give birth to kits in litters of typically around 3-6. The Starbunny who gave birth stays at home to take care of the kits while its partner goes out in search of food to bring home to the family. In some Starbunny families, it has been observed that mates will occasionally switch roles to give its partner a break.

DIET

Starbunnies are omnivorous creatures. They primarily feed on plants and berries, but have also been observed eating insects.
